The Chevrolet Bolt EV is an all-electric hatchback with impressive range. It comes with a well-equipped cabin and lots of tech features. For the 2023 model year, the Bolt has a new exterior paint option, but other than that; it carries over without any significant changes. Here's a look at some of the details for the 2023 Chevy Bolt EV.
Trim Levels (Exterior)
The entry-level 1LT Bolt EV has 17-inch alloy wheels, DC fast-charging capability, LED headlights, keyless entry, LED taillights, and heated and power-adjustable side exterior mirrors. The 2LT adds to this with updates in the cabin, roof rails, and additional tech options. The new exterior paint color for 2023 is a Radiant Red Tincoat, but you can also get it in Bright Blue Metallic, Summit White, Silver Flare Metallic, and more.
Engine (Power)
Power for the Bolt EV comes from a single electric motor that puts out 200 horsepower and generates 266 pound-feet of torque. Front-wheel drive comes standard. The electric power provides instant acceleration of low-end torque that shoots you right off the line when you press on the accelerator, getting you up to 60 mph in just 7.1 seconds.
Performance
You can expect to get up to a 259-mile range in the Bolt EV with a fully charged battery. A full recharge with a 240-volt outlet will take about seven hours, but the available DC fasting charging will get you about 100 miles in just 30 minutes. This electric car has one-pedal driving, which means it will speed up or slow down just by pressing or releasing the accelerator pedal. If you need to stop quickly, you can use the brake, but the one-pedal driving also helps replenish the battery.
Interior
The Bolt EV's cabin is comfortable with some soft-touch surfaces and well-bolstered front seats. The 1LT offers the Comfort and Convenience Package with heated front seats, a heated and power-adjustable steering wheel, and a power-adjustable driver's seat, or you can get these standard in the 2LT. The 2LT also comes with leather upholstery. There's plenty of tech in the Bolt EV. A 10.2-inch central display screen comes in both models, along with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and a six-speaker stereo. The optional Infotainment Package for the 2LT upgrades the stereo to an eight-speaker system, adds a wireless charging pad, and extra USB ports.
Safety Features
Both Bolt EV models come with advanced driver aids. There's a forward collision warning system with automatic braking, a rearview camera, and a lane-keep assist system that will steer the Bolt EV back into its lane if it senses any drifting. The Driver Confidence Package adds a blind-spot warning system with rear cross-traffic warning and rear parking sensors to the 1LT, but these come standard with the 2LT. The 2LT adds to these safety systems with a 360-degree surround-view camera system, and it offers the option for an adaptive cruise control system that will keep the Bolt EV at a set speed and distance from the car in front of it on the highway.
